Progression

Linslade crusaders use a staged approach to learning, incorporating the ASA Learn-to-Swim Pathway. This is a refreshed version of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming.

  • Penguin Stage 01
(NTP Stage 1) - This class provides an introduction to the water for non-swimmers. The aim is to build water confidence and introduce the basic skills required for swimming. Children learn to swim on their front and back using flotation aids and begin to swim independently. Children must be aged 5 years or over.
  • Penguin Stage 02
(NTP Stage 2) - Children continue to improve their water confidence and develop their ability to move through the water confidently on their own. Children learn to swim 5m on their front and back and begin to perform key skills such as push and glides and floating without the use of aids.
  • Penguin Stage 03
(NTP Stage 2/3) - Children learn to swim widths of the pool consistently on their front and back. They continue to improve their sculling and gliding skills and begin to link key skills together. From here, children progress to swimming lengths of the small pool.

Green Squad

Stacks Image 4368
  • Green Squad (Junior & Development Swimmers) Information
These are our youngest swimmers in the main pool. Swimmers will be concentrating on stroke development and stamina for progression.
Regular attendance is expected as there are swimmers waiting for places who must not be disadvantaged.
Crusaders Swimming Club works very hard to ensure that swimmers get to swim at a level appropriate to them. Swimmers cannot be expected to improve without putting in the expected training and following the feedback given by the coaches.
It is important that swimmer arrive poolside 10 minutes before their session starts to perform stretching exercises and to ensure that they are time for the warm-up.
All coaches and teachers are volunteers and work very hard to ensure that swimmers have a chance of realising their full potential - so parent support is essential for the smooth running of these sessions.
